"München mag Dich": Munich Loves You

Munich (German: München), the capital city of Bavaria, Germany, is located on the River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps. After Berlin and Hamburg, Munich is the third largest city in Germany. There are over 1.37 million people living in Munich, on an area of 311 sq km.

Munchen comes from the Old German word Mönche, meaning "Monks", though its nightlife in this day and age would cause its progenitors to frown.

How to Get There:
Munich International Airport, located outside of Munich in a northeastern suburb, is the second largest German airport and has two terminals. Terminal 2 is used by Lufthansa and its partner airlines. All other airlines use the older Terminal 1. The large airport now offers connections to most domestic airports in Germany, as well as most prominent international airports on all continents except Australia. If unable to fly to Munich directly, you can arrange a transfer via Frankfurt, 35 minutes away by air.

Munich Airport has been voted the "Best Airport in Europe" for the third year in a row. The airport connects to central Munich by commuter train and by road. Munich's Hauptbahnhof is conveniently located in the centre of Munich. The Deutsche Bahn uses Munich as a major German hub and is well connected to neighbouring countries (Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Italy) and all southern German cities. The best way to travel around Munich is by the tram, bus and subway system. The S-Bahn connects to the suburbs. If you plan to travel a bit, check out the best ticketing system for you, whether alone or as part of a group.
